Compost

The NYC Compost Project hosted by Big Reuse is part of a community-scale composting network that works to rebuild our soils by providing New Yorkers with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to produce and use compost locally.

Questions about compost? Email compost@bigreuse.org.

DROP-OFF LOCATIONS

Help reduce landfill waste and methane emissions by bringing your food scraps to one of 14 drop-off sites.

HOW WE COMPOST

We compost food scraps locally at our processing site under the Queensboro Bridge in LIC. In 2016, we diverted over 1 million pounds of organic waste from landfills! Email compost@bigreuse.org to learn about tours.

REQUEST FINISHED COMPOST

We help improve the soil in our neighborhood by distributing finished compost to community greening groups and through volunteer powered stewardship events. To help out, contact us at volunteer@bigreuse.org

NYC COMPOST PROJECT TIP SHEETS
